Strider I really love this idea because it allows for a bunch of good things.
It quickens the pace of the beginning so that people can start hitting one another faster.
It makes CLI work better (in my opinion) at the start by promoting attacking to get that rebuild protection faster.
It really make the mechanics of the castle chance have a much better impact. If you get taken down to 2 castles, you must have made a lot of enemies, but it also works great for catch up mechanics. Everyone has the 100% chance of gaining a castle on victory at the beginning
I could be missing something, but the only downside I see are the so called purists who believe Thardferr has to start at 10 and 1, and they will complain that people want the game to be easier, even though these types of changes don't make the game easier, they just allow us to get to the action quicker.
