Now that I've dried my tears, they got me good! But I am curious about this BR

We managed to kill : 80 Shieldbearer 410 Hammer wheilder 237 Axe Man 123 Runner 687 Light Crossbowman 138 Heavy Crossbowman

But we lost : 233 Catapult 339 Infantry 1023 Militia 72 Rider 936 Rock thrower 197 Balista

So the totals here are:

The losses seem disproportionate to the attack, def, and range stats. But I assume I'm missing something. Now this is disregarding his strategy as I don't know what it was, and I don't know his upgrades. But I am curious if this all lines up because losing 77k more wood, and 600k more gold and even 2k more iron feels wrong when my stats show something greater, especially the defense.

No salt, he hit me hard and well timed. Just curious about the results!

I can look at the details tomorrow. Guessing they sent overwhelming force. Doesn't look like their sheildbearers negated all your ranged (as is possible if they send 50% shieldbearers with shieldbearer strat), or there'd be more shieldbearer casualties I would think.

Also, keep in mind you only defend with 70-80% of your force if you have more than 1 castle.

In my opinion it was a loss for me regardless, but the resources lost just seemed so lopsided lol

But I do appreciate you filling in the info! When I saw Thane mention he found an issue with Mages, I figured one sided battles like this may be useful to look into. It's probably working exactly as it should, but always good to check and know!

honestly, this is my first time properly playing a Dwarf, so at first I couldn't commit to a strategy.

then after a couple hits and BR comparisons, I kind of didn't hate my losses compared to my province mates. So I just left it and have been pretty satisfied lol

I reviewed the detailed battle report on this and it looks pretty expected. The dwarf sent a superior force and was able to zero-out the defender.

In long range the attacker dealt 8k damages while the defender sent back over 13k damages, resulting in all of the defenders fodder units getting wiped out and a good chunk of ATC units as well (2/3 of cats and 1/3 bats survived to move on to Short/Melee), while the attacker lost a pretty good distribution of units and it accounted for nearly all their losses.

In short range only the attacker had a tiny amount of attack, most of their runners were obliterated in the long range phase so this was pretty much no damages on either side.

In the Melee phase the Dwarf output a crushing 16k attack power, while the Gnome was only able to produce an insignificant defense with the 1/3rd remaining bats in their army, the result was the surviving bats/cats were crushed with ease.

The area the Dwarf really beat you on is Defense points, they had something like 43K defense points total. It's all that Plate Armor from the Shieldbearers and Axe Men and Hammer Wielders. Unfortunately your long range attack power wasn't anywhere near enough to overcome that massive defense, then once getting passed Ranged the rest of the battle was just a total slaughter.

I think the best strategy to have avoided the huge loss of ATC would have been to use strategy Quick Retreat. If that had been used you still would have lost, but maybe you would have saved an additional 100-200 cats/bals from the slaughter.
