KingLear I think they were just sent aid as a smokescreen, but yeah I reversed all the resources sent from the multi account to everyone. I wouldn't say it's a punishment perse, just trying to set things right.

I never did hear back from the message sent to the multi account. Guessing things got too hot for whoever is controlling it as they stopped logging in. We might never know who that was.

Lord Thane I'm probably biased due to having been on the wrong end of a super alliance and managing my kingdom like a lean Japanese manufacturing plant just to tread water; then finding out that not only did they need 7 provinces to keep from being embarrassed but also needed to cheat. I know the majority of the people who are consistently kicking me in the nuts are not cheaters, but it helps my ego to paint them all as cheaters to justify getting my ass handed to me on a regular basis.

Strider it's tough out there for solos, not enough players to blend in and the alliances love to find a stragler they can overwhelm like a pack of hyenas.

If you add all of the wood, iron, and gold together of all 5 the total I had to spend rebuilding was more if you also include the armory I had to rebuild because I didn’t disband before desertion.

Strio their techs and have them research a 350 hour tech called: Divine Integrity that takes away the -50% resource production issued for cheating.

But Thane applied what he thought was the best punishment in this case and he put a lot of his personal time into it. Both devs give up their personal time for this game for us to enjoy.

Strider why don't you just delete them if you're going to be that harsh?

I get the attitude of cheaters have to be dealt with, but when you make a public display of it and then have the entire game community crying out to completely handicap their kingdoms for the rest of the round, well, you're just going to drive those players away anyways.

FriendsInSpace I would have deleted them immediately if it were up to me. That doesn't seem to be an option.

Giving them a handicap for the rest of round is the perfect penalty for cheating for an unfair advantage. Let everyone they cheated slowly take back whats theirs

Might be an unpopular opinion - but the whole public spectacle of this thing, plus the dev time invested, seemed pretty wasteful. Especially when there's so many aspects of the game that need attention. This was essentially a test round, and with such a small player base as it is, spending such a significant amount of time catching a few people sending resources is misguided. Set up the mechanism to detect them, test it out, but focus on the systems and things that will attract new players for the next round. Then when we have a real round we can go harsh on the few resource farms that may or may not pop up. Further reducing the player pool when it's so shallow already only makes those remaining players even less engaged.

The market has already really done a lot to make resource multis way less effective, as you don't need to run a balanced production system anymore. Just sell your excess of one resource to top up on the ones you need.

I'm just worried that going too harsh on people for this will kill the game, much like the mass IP bans by booi and niux (I think it was them) killed it last time. Especially when innocent's get caught in the crossfire.

Strider If that's what you would do, then it's a good thing you're not running the game I suppose. Even with Thanes investigation, we can't be 100% certain there wasn't any innocent's caught in the crossfire.

The devs can speak for themselves, but my opinion is that their time would be much better spent fixing what issues crop up and trying to grow the game. As I said before, with the changes already made, and the simple fact that it's not 2001 anymore and we can check the game almost every tick if we desire, multis just aren't the same level of power boost as they were 20 years ago.

And shared households have desktops, laptops, ipads, cell phones which makes all of it even harder. The amount of work to detect and catch the multis cannot be worth it in a test round like this (especially when those who benefited weren't even in the top 30). If you have the shared household rules I think the multi detection needs to be narrowed to very specific things. If there was a weekly aid ledger released (even if it masked the names of kingdoms and just did province totals) it would help the community to detect anomalies and let the devs focus on actually developing.
