With this rant being said... the game blows more then Monica Lawinski(SP) in the oval office! Fix it before the game is as dead as Abraham Lincoln...

OgGnome Bottom feeding was always a problem, CLI doesn’t change that at all. There are bottom feeding penalties that give the defender a boost, Thane already said he’s open to increasing those. But we both know as soon as he does that everyone will start complaining that it’s impossible to attack anyone because the guys below you in KS are too strong with the penalties. There are winners and losers in every game, Thardferr is no different. You can’t completely stack the deck for the defender or nobody will attack.

I mean, I am done with the game until they fix this defense protection thing I brought up over a month ago. I literally can't play. Everyone in the game seems hell bent on making sure I cannot get to play it. My experience playing this round has been permanent protection, and people exploiting the fact that you only get 15 hours of protection while they and their buddies get 24 hours. They all take turns attacking you, and even when you successfully defend, it triggers an endless spree of attacks. I have had 3 to 4 retals with zero troops for almost this entire play-through. I get that victory should go to the spoils, but people are exploiting the bad game design. The game is unplayable, literally. Everyone knows elf is extra weak, everyone knows solo players can't play correctly, and the entire player base is teaming together and sharing attack/defense data either each other. This is literally just two days' worth of attacks, and you'll see that at no point could I have ever taken a single retal and have won.

Zown unfortunately, this is exactly what will be the undoing of the game. The player base is toxic. They find a lone target, single them out, and basically feed off attacking them until they no longer can or until the player deletes. This problem can’t be fixed with tweaks or buffs. It’s a player base problem and it’s ruining the game.

It wouldn't be so bad if KS would update differently. The way the KS is designed is causing the issue to be worse. I have been 40-80ks for over a month, and all the people attacking me have been 40-80ks for over a month... like what? I have lost over 100 land, only gotten to attack like 3-4 times in my entire play time this round... and that is me initiating the attack not retaling. I have defended and retaled like 20-30 times. With all that going on, these players attacking me are so bad, they are just passing the land and castles upwards. They are stuck at the same KS level that I am stuck at. Even being down about 100 land, I am still at 40-60ks. So not only is there zero out-play potential because of my race, not only is there zero out-play potential because of the defense protection and cli system, but there is also zero out-play potential because these guys suck and can't grow their KS past the point of permanently bottomfeeding on me. It is easy to see why people give up on the game. It's unplayable.

Cora how do you determine if someone is being attacked “too much”? When i’m picking a target i look for the one i have the best chance of winning against. That’s the nature of any war game. There are plenty of ways to reduce losses and give yourself the best chance of getting a retal off, but new players might not know all of those tools. I find that players sometimes get into the mindset that they can never take a retal and are already planning for the next guy that’s going to hit them. I’m curious how many retals Zown tried to take in all of those hits against him. Any retal would have given a full 24 hours of free build time, and he could even try and find himself a target to hit before that 24 hours was up to extend his protection. Is that possible every time? No - but it gives you some cushion when you’re able to do it and things might not seem so hopeless.

skigglez yeah this is know but CLI you can hit someone just in Range wipe out there entire army and sit for 24 hours. At least before CLI you could get 3 or 4 people to smack the crap out od the person ans even it up a bit. Hit and hide is the name of the game at this point.

You can't take any retals because if you get a successful defense, then it means your entire army gets wiped, and you get two to three people attacking you. It doesn't matter if it is the same people attacking you. You are not seeing the big picture. There is an issue with the protection system. There is an issue with armies comprising most of your KS. There is an issue with KS in general. There is an issue with the battle system where armies generally get wiped out in any attack. There is an issue with the retal system and letting people get a chance to defend. There is an issue with the production of units taking way too long, so whether you are attacking or defending, both kingdoms are severely weakened without a chance to rebuild. CLI tried to fix this. There is an issue with race balances. There is an issue with strategies; they are useless. There are so many issues with the game that it is driving people to get frustrated and leave. I get that the community can be toxic, and teaming is an issue. The issue is that there are so many issues that it makes the game unplayable.

Zown well you’re just wrong, I’m sorry. Many attacks result in people successfully taking retals. Just because you didn’t try doesn’t mean it isn’t possible. You’d be surprised how many people full send on attacks, especially less experienced players. Not every bad thing that happens to someone can be chalked up to bad game design - there are some issues yes, but alot of what you’re describing could be addressed by better kingdom management. Elf is generally weaker military wise yes, so that’s probably a big part of what your frustration stems from. Despite that, there are some elf players who are making it work. Maybe reach out to one of them for advice on how to tackle fighting certain races, what units are optimal, etc.

Zown the game definitely has a lot of issues, but to say it’s unplayable is a little unfair. The problem is a lot of people keep trying the same strategies over and over, but those strategies aren’t working so you get stuck on the same position for a month. You have to adapt and change your strategy to work within the rules and constructs of the game. Clearly some people have figured this out, so they are succeeding, where others fall behind because they aren’t adapting. That being said, I do still agree that without some changes the player base will continue to shrink.

Do you think there is out-play potential when a larger kingdom attacks you?
Do you think when that larger kingdom fails their attack and another larger kingdom attacks you, there is out-play potential?
When 4 to 5 different people attack you on 15-hour cooldown, do you think there is out-play potential?
Do you think therer is out-play potential when 3-5 proviances of kingdoms that are teaming together and sharing battle report data?
Do you think the current strategies add any stratigic depth to the game?
Do you think the current KS system allows for balanced gameplay?
Do you think the current magic system is fun and engaging?

I think to most of these questions the majority of people leaving the game would answer no. I have played and got into the top 1% in many compeitive games. I know how to play competitive games. This game needs a lot of work to be compeititive for everyone. I can't be wrong about the taking retals, because at no point have I tried to say that is the issue with the game. Again, you are missing the bigger picture and tunnel visioned on some random point no one cares about. This game has to many issues to be competitively playable. That is the only thing I am saying.

You cant take a retal after youve been banged up 4 times. Your military is on life support, your ability to retrain is fucked, and you're not going to outpace the bottomfeeders in rebuilding. You've got two options: retaliate with the 5% of your army that's left and hope they somehow win. If they didnt full send, you're open to ANOTHER attack. Or take 15 hours to build back and hope you are good to find a random target then.

There needs to be a mechanic to protect failed retals. Otherwise the risk of taking one you're almost guaranteed to lose is too substantial.

@skigglez please just mute my posts. You don’t bother trying to understand what I’m saying. You always just contradict me. I don’t want to mute anyone because I actually have an interest in hearing what others think and come up with. There is a mute option now, use it.

@Zown the only reason those players are succeeding is because of the help from the allies. I told you before that solo is very difficult. You had offers to move and you turned them down. If you had accepted then maybe you would be in a different position right now. And you started playing the round late. If you had started from the beginning, things could have gotten off to a much better start for you. I’m not saying any of this is your fault. It’s not. There’s just a lot of variables that add to it.

I'm trying to play Battlefield 6 and do some homework. I log into this game after getting attacked like 8 times to this. The one retal that looks like I can take results in nothing. I have done nothing but watch my kingdom get taken adventage of for days. I'm sure a lot of other people are experiencing the same thing, considering how little the KS has changed in the leaderboards in the past month. The people finding success, I suspect they would be part of one of these super alliances. How many people in the top 30 are only playing with their province?

If im 100k KS and I hit someone that's 70k KS a KS difference of 30k is a lot of troops! Thats a shit ton more troops. I think Zown was on to something with KS difference. But you make the kill lose 1k troops kill 10k troops get 24 hours of protection with your army that was the size of the guy you hit BEFORE the attack. It takes him way longer to build the troops back to attack him. Because the loss of TC and ATC he gains it so hes farther ahead of you then the 100k vs 70k now 100k turns to 120k ans 70k turns into 40k... makes no sense at all!!

The game has literally turned into hit low as you can and sit in protection rinse repeat its pretty lame!

lol yeah that is designed well. I'm not trying to say the game is bad; it's addicting and fun. I'm just saying the game isn't competitively viable, and the few avenues of success result in the same repetitive gameplay loop that others have mentioned on the forums. The strategy system could build off the weight system that was implemented in the game. Changes the weights of the units and gives small passive boosts to the armies like 10-20%, not 2-3.5x damage or 2x reduction in damage. This would simulate different formations in battle. The current strats have such huge swings and huge drawbacks that they make them borderline useless in current play. The 70-80% castle penalty actually only punishes smaller kingdoms that are getting bottom feed on. The way armies battle and wipe is fine if it didn't take 24-50 hours to replenish the army. And the 15 hours of defending and 0 hours for successfully defending open the game for all kinds of bottom-feeding exploits. Only having 10 buildings per acre of land is odd when there are 12 buildings. It feels very restrictive of what kinds of builds you can do and limits a lot of the gameplay elements. The mitigation system feels kind of off. The fact battle only happens in one round is odd, too. You could lower the damage to about 20% per round and have multiple rounds of fighting, and allow players to set their retreat value to simulate ruling their armies more. It would give units more time to fight, and they wouldn't just wipe out in one phase. The magic system is mostly good, but it should be more available to all races. The MP system is close to doing this, but it doesn't go far enough. Technologies are pretty good, but just take a little too long to complete, and the stat boosting ones should apply to more units, so you don't have such a huge fall off of so many races late game. Unit production speed feels like it should at least be doubled. The army system is good, but it feels like it should have weighted items, kind of like units with TC/ATC. It's just odd that you can make 1000 horses and 1000 swords. The population feels like it consumes too much food in the beginning, but the technology fixes it; however, it still feels like to few people, even with a high housing amount. If there were a larger population in general, people could explore more, and kingdoms could grow more easily. Everyone seems like they are doing 0 exploration and only trying to grow from attacking, causing many players to not really go anywhere in KS. Plus, so many are stacking GHs that all their resources are basically only going into producing armies, limiting gameplay and strategic depth of the game. This seems like a strong strategy, but it is actually a huge misplay since so many people are teaming together. The teaming situation is so bad in the game that you might as well just have two provinces. Why am I even in one? It wouldn't take much to overhaul the game into a playable state that is really fun and engaging. There are tons of suggestions from the community that would improve the game a lot.

Zero out-play potential. You just can't make units fast enough to fight a kingdom way above you that is attacking you on the 15-hour cooldown. The KS system just doesn't represent the kingdom's actual fighting strength and allows for imbalanced gameplay. Now I have 0 protection and 0 army. So the next person who attacks is guaranteed 0 retaliation. And btw, I still have another retaliation, I still have absolutely nothing I can do about which will soon be two. Taking retals in a lot of situations is actually bad for the defender. And mind you, all this started because I won a defense. This is terrible game design.

OgGnome you can’t have your entire army wiped out defending, you don’t defend with 100% of your at home army. You can also combine MCs with QR strat to minimize troop loss and give yourself the ability to take the retal.

OgGnome I definitely lose way more than 1k troops in attacks, but will agree the current mechanics of the game encourage hitting as low as you can to still achieve CLI to get that 24 hours of pro, then rinse and repeat. I even brought this up in a post a few days ago about CLI, if that’s the way the game is now then fine…I’ll play it that way, but it does make it more boring and more difficult for the smaller KD’s to keep up. Realistically, your only option is to do the same thing yourself….never leave pro, and always hit as close to 70% as you can.
