It would be pretty simple, just display the attacks/defenses for your province mates that day. It would show like "our ally so-and-so was attack by such-and-such and lost 5 lands", stuff like that and you can only see your province news.

In old days we would just log all that stuff in our province forums, but that's pretty messy and requires a lot of user maintenance to keep updated. I think a simple news section would be good so we know what's happening in our province.

Are you in favor of having a provincial news?

However, forum will still remain to discuss other issues correct?

This takes the fun, mystery and 'tacticalness' (I know its not a word but I like it, BACK OFF) out of the game.
I feel it enhances the game to the veterans who have friends all over that can share this information inter provincially and puts anyone who is causal/quiet at a HUGE disadvantage. Essentially it will turn the game into an eye for eye scenario every single time you attack.

It also puts certain races who can rebuild fast and hopefully defend a retal (Ex. Gnomes) at a disadvantage because they have no time to get any type of defense built back up due to everyone knowing who hit who.
I liked the idea of going to bed, getting smashed and having like 3 prov mates spamming asking "who hit!?!!??" with their attack page filled with troops and their fingers twitching on the attack button but a blank target.
Keep communication going and helps avoid large alliances smashing everyone.

mostly true. but for the people that watch the KHoF like a hawk, they know who did the hitting.

if I see billy bob drop a castle and 30 land then mary jane has 1 castle and 30 land more... i know who probably did the hitting.

          trupheus

What if land/castle gains were delayed by half the attack time?

          idk just spit balling

            Jules

would that prevent KS from being accurate?

could have a delay before the attack info hits the provincial news?

What if the attacker remains in secret, only the province is shown?

trupheus People who watch have to sleep sometimes (and maybe work)!
I know it is not perfect but I feel its much better then having detailed logs on who hit who and what kind of army they compose of. It also doesnt show the BR logs to see how much of that army they sent/died.

TheKeeper Still is showing army composition and losses. As Trupheus said, you will know the attacker by looking at the KHoF.

Mack10 the provincial news idea wouldn't include battle/troop stats in the feed, only who sent/received an attack and what was gained/lost.

Lord Thane Still a thumbs down from me. What about lost battles as well? You bounce someone now the entire province know they are 0'ed (or weak). To me, this idea just encourages people to farm rather then attack.

Mack10 I agree with you assessment. No one knowing what is going on is half the battle.

I like seeing the Attack/def reports for prov only. It helps provs work together without having to manage the forums. Even if it was a 1 tick delay of posting the report if people are fearful for sending all their army and getting smacked before the next tick

Those of us with small children know there's no such thing as sleep anymore. You did sway me, though. I'm on the no side of this now. Having to communicate with others is part of what makes Thardferr fun. Automatic notifications make it so that people don't have to talk to each other, just check the province news and know where to send an army. If someone can't let other people know, even in their province, that they were hit, why should they get the benefits of communicating with others?

On a side note because this thread makes me thing of it. What I definitely do not want is some kind of notification system sent to email, phone, or anywhere else. Log in and check your kingdom. I do not want a notification outside of Thardferr because I got attacked, or my spell ran out, or someone cast a spell on me, or someone posted on the province forum, or my research finished.

trupheus lol, push notifications is a great idea! Maybe something to make optional for power users some day 😆

I think a province news should actually make things more casual, because people will be less stressed to constantly be checking and copying and pasting reports. Like my idea for casualty caps, was trying to make things less destructive and more casual play friendly - considering the player base should be in their 40s by now and too busy/tired with life to be monitoring their kingdom all day 😩

Maybe a good compromise would be a delay of a few hours. Then it's less of a strategic asset and more of just general news To stay aware of province happenings.

                        Lord Thane

Don’t we all have phones now? lol. Can check thardferr from anywhere. I don’t care if it’s weird I go to the bathroom every hour at work.

                        4 days later

At first I would have voted aye, but I have to say after reading the discussion, Mack has swayed me.

It made me realize that the retro, medieval, fantasy realm feel of the game actually demands the shadows of not knowing exactly who did what in my opinion. I want my kingdom to receive a "runner" from my ally with news of great conquest and defeat versus a auto notification on a smart phone.

                        It's a Nay from me.

MithicYort it's not an auto notification, it's just a page with the news people have to go to intentionally to see, and the time delay was my thought to account for the realism factor of "runners bringing news".
