Lord Thane why not just find some one to cast spells on you… I get the market and time zones and availability once your on a schedule though the elf is going to be casting you are going to be paying it’s all the same. We are creating systems that players have created already for 30 years might be fine to let them continue doing that…

Xliest I already addressed that multiple times, but yet again - it's because we don't need to rely on archaic and unreliable and annoying methods of trading when we have the tech and capability to make a better system that eases the burden for all users and ensures all parties get what they're looking for and increases the time to make a deal from days/weeks to seconds. It increases accessibility to buyers and broadens the market for sellers, thus improving prices for everyone and improving the user experience.

Theres zero downside to having a marketplace, not for goods and not for magic.

Do you think after 30 years that if Thardferr had continued being developed that it would not have had a player driven market by now? That preposterous.

Anyway I don't want to post an ad looking for a caster, and then haggling for a price, and then hoping they will deliver, and hoping they can cast at the times I need, and on and on and on. That's just dumb. We can obviously make a much better way, and we are going to.

Lord Thane ok I’m into it I wish we had old thardferr to tell us what would have happened.

Xliest we do have old thardferr, what's left of it is on the forums, bunch of old bastards still bickering at each other like the last 20 odd years never happened 😂

Lord Thane Theres zero downside to having a marketplace, not for goods and not for magic.

The only thing missing would be an exclusion list. I wanna sell wood but i want to exclude John of Kingdom and also want to exclude Lithar 32. Thats the main difference from forums

          Jaxx

NOOO that's trade discrimination, nobody will sell to us since everybody is at war with us lol.

          Jaxx

Then don’t use it and only tell your group what you’re willing to sell?

I was short on gold last night and had to sell to someone I would rather have not too but I was in a pinch.

            trupheus
I'm not saying me, personally want to do that now. Im comparing to the manual market with people posting on forums. Thats the key difference.. Im ok either way, most likely wont play 🙂

Lord Thane instead of scrolls being created by casting on the market, people should just request to buy a spell in market. People can cast and if they succeed then they get paid. That way the casting kingdom can see the size of kingdom and know if they are too big to succeed and you won't have tiny multis selling scrolls to their main kd.

Sayer as explained, adaptive power scrolls already scale themselves automatically, no further tweaks need to be done in that regard.

It's moot anyways, I think we're going to go with the magic potion idea.

                Lord Thane

Can you break down how MP is going to work. I think something like wizards cast a spell to create MP, MP gets listed on the market or sent directly? MP is used to cast spells.

trupheus I'm not quite sure, but it sounds like you got it. Keeper will probably dev it since it's his idea, I'm not sure what the total vision is.

From what I gather MP will be a resource like gold or wood, so I'll integrate that into the market to be bought/sold once it's ready.

Magic seems pretty tough atm. Failing blessing as an elf with 3 wiz per land and 1:1 schools I don't remember ever happening in thardferr. Any info on what standard success rates are currently?

Sayer I think everything functions as per the game guide:
                      https://thardferr.com/guide/chapter-4/

But 1:1 schools ratio only gives you 75% success rate too. When I was an elven caster I tried to keep 1.5 to 2 schools and was casting successfully well below the suggestions in the guide.

Sayer they're going by game guide, which we all know isn't correct

I wish the og devs fixed the game guide when they made changes.

Game guide was not accurate. Leo and I have spreadsheets on how things changed. If @Lord Thane and @TheKeeper are interested we can share it.

Bring back Iron to Gold spell without costing iron!!! Make elves great again

Sayer a few days ago that spell was adjusted to give a much more favorable return. I think it's like 3-5X better now?

Lord Thane so is this going to be a rework of magic completely so that even people casting on themself will use MP?
