New Kingdom Boost
When a player joins a round that's in progress, depending how far we are into the round we can let them go into settings and boost their kingdom to get up to speed faster = reduce protection to 20h, dump resources, dump a pack of houses filled with pez. The goal would be to help a player that joins a in-progress game to catch up a bit faster, so if they missed 3-4 weeks of a round we can get them up and running faster. The option would become available based on a timer, like after a round has been running +3 weeks, and it would only work for kingdoms that are in new kd protection (new kds).

    Ya, while I don’t think this is a good idea I don’t want to completely discredit it, I thing it would be helpful if you start late. And this is your only kingdom . Let’s set some parameters though…

    Late: it would have to mean past the initial protection phase so if you joined after the first 5 days of the round. I would be interested in being able to set your account to tick faster, up to 1 tick per 10 minutes until you run out of protection. This would bring the Initial protection period to just under one day. However sleep could be an issue so while still under protection you should be able to set your kingdom to tick at normal time 1per hour while you sleep and up to 6 per hour while you are awake.

    Seems like a good idea, could also help people who want to restart if they don't like their race/prov

    Maybe if we are talking about like 1month plus in a 3-4 month round cycle we could entertain a small Econ bump, and when I say small I mean small maybe like double the starting resources or something like that only. but this would have to be monitored very carefully to be sure its not being abused.

    I know we have mobile phones in this age, but what if we implement a "Vacation mode"? it puts KD under protection, and the time freezes (No tiks for the kd) real days may be configured, also retals on that kd remains freezed

      Lord Thane I was thinking that...... If someone joined a month later it would be neat if there were a couple "game targets" that they could attack and grow. Where these bots will only grow to 2 castle 30 land and military. But the boys don't exist until the majority of the starters could never attack them.

        Jets that's a good and interesting idea. Like the Market seller, we could make some imperial kingdoms that never run out of land or castle or troops, modest targets for small kingdoms to work on if they want, like a tutorial kingdom.

          TheKeeper I like it but make only good for 1 week and only make it useable once per round. Or give a kingdom an amount of days (10maybe) once the days are up they leave vaca mode then they can no longer use vaca mode after.

          Lord Thane just ensure this can’t be abused, maybe one attack per kingdom. As you could theoretically pass these castles up a chain to the top of the phof consistently.

          Lord Thane I like that, think of it as a way to catch up rather than super up hitting or exploring your way to a reasonable fight. I also agree that it would be cool to have tiers that can only be used once. But also make them challenging.

          Since it will only be available to new kingdoms that join an in-progress round, it should automatically take care to only be available to the bottom KDs. Like right now there's new people joining this test round, and it's like - what's even the point? They can test their protection build strat I guess. But, by the time they get out of protection we'll be just about ready to wipe the server.

          It would just be nice for people joining late to get a boost to get started, make the top-30 look less impossible to reach. It's not like they're getting a game-changing boost.

          The bot targets are not my favorite, but let’s talk about protection boosting, it might be difficult to implement having kingdoms tick at different rates through out the period that would be the only thing I could think of maybe the self changing is an issue, but I think it’s necessary cause you would sleep and lose 40 ticks of protection.

          What other hang ups are on this method of reducing protection time so you can join your friends in battle.

            Xliest it will be made to work simple, so as not to introduce bug filled complexity. So reduce protection time, dump resource, dump pez, dump houses so the dumped pez don't die. That makes it real simple to code and let the late-joiner skip days of slow progress in newb protection. Maybe dump 5 lands to go with it too.

            It's also optional, if a newb doesn't want it they don't have to take it. They can plow through days of protection themselves if they prefer.

            We already have a function in the database that identifies a player as new, so this idea would just hook right into that. Very simple and easy to implement.

              Lord Thane what are the specifics of the dump… I don't like it if I don’t know what it does… not for me unless it’s really OP and if that’s the case then it can’t be in the game. Three weeks after round start is at least far enough out that it shouldnt be impactful on the leader board. Depending how long the rounds are going to last.i don’t like the idea of giving people free resources when the rest of the kingdoms had to work for them.

                Xliest haven't figured that out yet, probably just gonna shoot from the hip when the time comes lol. It should be enough to make up what they would have gotten in the week of protection. Regardless of this little boost, they're still far behind on techs and military buildup, so it's pretty inconsequential on the rest of the players.

                  Lord Thane I like the 5 land stacked with houses. Helps at least explore quickly and it's up to them to utilize the resources they can gather quicker.

                  I also, in my mind was thinking a couple weeks late. Look at the current test, prior to the resources 30k was the number, if it had been another week, 60k?... I also like to drive fast and take chances so shoot from the hip.

                  Lord Thane I see that your a throw shit at the roof kinda guy. lol your right it needs to be an amount that is close to what an average gathering would make during the same time of protection that is lost. Are we taking about cutting 4days off the pro or just like 2-3 becasue they will still need time to make an army and weapons in the time between when the boost is for and when they leave protection. Maybe there will be insight if you take the amount of resources gathered by a kingdom of the same race in protection and divide that by 2 and give that amount…that would be a lot of bonus stuff but if your losing 3 days of protection it’s probably almost equal.
