Nolio The current mechanics should be fine. Just build more farms every tick to cater the negative foods.
An Incentive To Attack
Lord Thane tbh i dont agree with this. most top kingdoms send out everything then buy up the food they can for the 18-24 hours so they dont lose troops when they come home.
send you mili out and make more gold and food? everyone will always have 0 home
sigh
Everything will be balanced with pop eating less food. Trust me. Try it out and if it doesn’t work come back to 6 food.
In og game attacking was more sustainable as pop didn’t eat. Make them eat sure but 6 per makes my pop fat. I want them on a diet so my combats can be away. 2-3 per should balance. I know I’m a broken record but can we please try it out for a week?
King Haybol
Im currently at 1.5 farms per land. Its not enough.
Yah food is a pain even as orc. Running more farms right now is the only answer which isn't great because our building ratios are so tight to begin with. Maybe irrigation just needs to be better to balance out peasants eating. Or maybe markets could affect food production(maybe a tech?) since the peasants on your farms gotta sell their food somewhere
King Haybol While I appreciate the suggestion to build more farms, this post isn't about it being unsustainable to supply food to an army. I have no problems with maintaining food because I build my Kingdom around these constraints.
What this post is about, is giving an incentive to attack and to attack often.
Currently I see posts and have heard this many times over the many rounds, sending out troops isn't worth it because the food and gold costs are too much.
This means that the problem being created is less attacks because it's detrimental to your kingdom. So to fix that, we make it a bonus to attack, not a penalty.
DougEfresh That's the whole point, to have people sending out their army and attacking constantly. If you have 0 troops at home, you'll get attacked constantly, and with retals.
I'm not seeing the downside yet. But I appreciate the input!
saadht lol saad, for once we might agree on this point. But your numbers. Are messed up pop eats 1 food per 6 peasants, so what you are saying is you want to cut this number in half roughly so one food will feed 12 or more peasants. It’s worth a try, and if we don’t like the result can always change it back. Or balance it more to something like 1/9 or 1/15 there are lots of easy options…
My peons are only consuming 1/3 of my current food supply, but it would be nice if they ate even less - free up some build space to blow elsewhere. Maybe someone throw up a poll about changing food stuff and let's see what the sweaty masses say.
At least it's on the road to making attacking more attractive.
Lord Thane I vote, let's do a new tech tree, that really works as a tree, with mutually exclusive options, such as 1 reducing the population's food OR 2 causing fewer buildings to be lost in a battle,
My plebs eat 100% of my food supply. 5:1 houses and .5 farms to make that happens. Yet somehow I’m still out of gold.
