Jaxx we put it up to a poll and the majority of players clearly wanted it, so despite your personal feelings it seems you're wrong.
If more players said they didn't want to try it, then we wouldn't have tried it. It's as simple as that.
And you think we threw away the old thardferr because we didn't make it 100% like it was. That's a really short-sighted opinion. Look at the announcements blog in the internet archive, they changed things, added new features, and bug fixed all the time - even mid round. New features we've added are just continuing that trend, improving the game along the way. Plus, whose "old version" are we supposed to build it back to? I want the version I played in '97, is that more relevant than someone that played in '01? It's like I said before when defending the Market, you don't think that if Thard had been around the last 20 years that they would have built a fuggin market by now? They probably could have built CLI into it a decade ago by now for all we know.
Not only that, but we also democratized development to let players have a voice in all of it. In old Thardferr if you had an idea, you'd pretty much get a fuck you and that's the end of it. Now we poll, discuss, debate, brainstorm with everyone included in the process.
Maybe instead of complaining that new features aren't good, you should brainstorm ideas that are better - and be able to defend them with logic.
