WIth or without CLI, L19 would have exactly the same result.
I forgot to explain why not exactly the same:
There is the obvious one: Putting the reciever kingdom under 15h protection for him to build up, he would be down a castle and some land and the kingdom doing this would end up 2 castles out of protection waiting to be halved by an enemy. So, in previous version you needed to feed a castle to an enemy as well. Also 24h instead of 15h build up time. Small but helpful incentives.
So, the question is why we did this round but not earlier? It is not just to challange CLI. Because, i believed it to be the best opener for a round under new rules. If people played several rounds with the new rules sooner or later one group would come up with this idea naturally.
Why not do the same without CLI? Because, castle passing is a lame tactic. Can be your last resort in some scenarios that is fine. Not a game breaking issue. But without CLI i knew i can rely on my provmates. Therefore we could choose to stick together instead of going for a lame tactic.
With CLI i can't really rely on them. The whole purpose of CLI is to remove that aspect due to being unfair to others who can't. Is that too bad? Who knows? Unfortunately "at least i" couldn't even come to think about that due to the approach. My approach was to first fix the flaws and give it a try. But, i couldn't get past the denial of even the simplest point of abuse.
That is the main difference why i think with CLI, passing is the best opener for a round, but without CLI you are fine to go either way.
