Looking at the KOHF, everyone in the top 15 has a 50% chance or greater to take a castle from one another, barring like 3 KD's (If the majority of you weren't in an alliance). Couple that with the fact that the top two guys can't even hit below the top 14 due to BF rules.
The problem isn't the castle chancification. It's the alliance of players that refuse to fight each other, whine about there being no targets when rules are put into place to help little guys, and bottom feed the fuck out of anyone that comes above 50% range.
I get it, its your (maybe not you, specifically) friends, but you aren't going to get anyone new into the game if it consists of:
Step 1) build kingdom up to 45 land
Step 2) Start castle construction to get more buildings/army to be able to grow
Step 3) Get fucked by someone 200% your KS as soon as your castle comes in
Step 4) Right after 3, lose 50% of your land and buildings, then probably lose more due to gold/food upkeep fucking everything else
Step 5) Repeat 1-4 about 2 or 3 times
Step 6) Fuck this I'm going to play Raid Shadow Legends.
Step 7) Rejoin game in 5-10 years to see if anything has changed
Step 8) Repeat all of the above.
At the very least, Keeper and Thane are trying things to make it better for smaller/new players who don't have a pile of "friends" to help them.
There is no easy way to prevent alliances from forming, if there is at all, so one of the things you can do to help is ease the transition from a) player 200% your size takes half your shit, to b) player 200% your size takes maybe 10-20 % of your shit. At least with option B you have a chance of rebuilding everything with a day or two, and getting back into the fight.
The %ages might need some tweaking, and maybe a different idea is better, but as the past 20 years have shown, if we just keep it to the "old Thard", then we will play maybe a couple rounds, then the alliances will wreck the game because the player base is so small, everyone else will quit and we will all come back in 5 years when someone else raises it from the dead to all repeat the cycle.
Or maybe T18/L19/R8 and whoever else is in that little wannabe mafia group, i dunno, fight each other if they need targets? I'm sure the 3 guys managing those kingdoms can have an argument or something. (Jokes....half jokes.)
