I’ve been thinking about how we could improve the initial protection 120-hour setup phase of the game. This period is frankly quite dull since nothing really happens (so little resources).
I propose a “Fast Forward” button system that allows players to complete the initial preparation phase much faster. Here’s how it could work:
The Fast Forward System:
Post a Register/Start Date: The game developer or system sets a start date for the “Fast Forward” process.
Initial Pro Starts: Players can register and start their initial progress at the same time. Everyone begins whenever for the first few days. There is no market or external interactions allowed during this phase.
"Next Tic" Button: Players can click a “Next Tic” button to advance the game by 1 hour (or 1 tick), which would allow them to perform all in-game actions that could be completed within that tick.
Repeat Steps for All 120 Tics: Players can continue clicking the “Next Tic” button for all 120 ticks of the initial phase, making progress without waiting a full hour for each tick to occur. Cannot advance past 120 tics (will now sit in idle)
Transition to Normal Gameplay: Everyone will advance to tick 121 at the same time, and everything is now back to the regular pace for all players. The game continues as usual, with interactions, trades, and full-scale gameplay.
*Note - Suggestion - No Market Interaction During this fast-forward phase, players cannot interact with markets, send/recieve aid, cast magic upon/out.
Benefits:
Speed Up Setup: Instead of waiting 120 hours for the initial preparation, players can complete this phase in about an hour or so, or even reset if they make a mistake. Or try different races.
Engagement: New players can catch up quickly without feeling left behind by the slow-paced start, making it easier for them to jump into the main game. They can just blitz though 120 tics and join the main game flow.
More Focused Start: Players can focus on building their strategy and preparing their kingdom and can do it on their own time.
Options
1) Have the KHOF/POF not update until tic 121
2) Ability to scroll through the KHOF by “time” for the 120 hours as see how it changes for all players. You can still see who is doing what every hour (but asynchronously).
I think this system would make the early game a lot more enjoyable and less drawn out. It allows players to get to the fun parts of the game quicker, while still giving everyone the same starting conditions and fair progression.
Just my thoughts.
