@Xliest my deep dear friend, it was a retal. If you will hit somebody stronger, of course they will hit you, zero you, take your castle. If you didn't give me that retal, I wouldn't be allowed to hit you.

Losing 100% of all troops every battle because someone 2x your size hits you is a bad battle model!

What is the point of the game? 2x your size takes half your kingdom and you start over with ZERO troops. Battle model stinks! I can't get enough troops built in like 10 hours of to possibly hit anyone else or retal against who hit me. I am half the strength now as I was when I came out of initial protection. It would take me like 40 days to retrain the troops I lost, and I get like 10 hours of protection? Game needs adjustments or noone will want to play.

Sorry that sounded grumpy. Not trying to complain, just frustrated and during testing is the time to provide feedback. Just over and over restarting at 1 castle 10 land and zero troops, the game is not enjoyable in its current state. something needs adjusted or players won't want to keep playing.

Ran some attack testing today, Human V Human. The biggest problem I see is the 10k archer test, with no buildings the defender won handily, when giving the defender 5:1 ratio of Guard Towers you would think they'd continue winning in that archer battle - but instead the reverse happened and the attacker won and even sustained fewer casualties while the defender got shat on. I'm guessing the GT formula is setup backwards at the moment so the attacker gets the buff LOL

Other insights gleaned, I think the Medical Centers calc may be off too, need to look into it further.

Other than those issues, the rest seems pretty straightforward. If you send overwhelming force = you can zero out the defender. If you send underwhelming force you get zeroed out. If you send similar sized force you lose/kill similar sized troops.

Mkay I might have been wrong about the GH. I think instead of 5:1 ratio I had actually ran 0.5:1 ratio. I reran the test and double checked 5:1 ratio:

That's more in line with what I expected to happen, it was a LOSE for the attacker and the GT do seem to have had a positive effect for the defender.

Now again, but the defender gets 5:1 GT and also 5:1 MC:

The second attack resulted in a win too... That's not what I expected with the defender getting 5k guard towers and 5k med centers. Something definitely off with the buildings buff.

Mkay, so this was actually 2 bugs. One part was giving the attacker an extra buff, the second part was the formula to calculate GT damage removal from attackers was capped at 2, so in my tests the 5000 GT was only removing 2 total damage from the attacker... From the game guide:

Reduce ranged attack by 40 damages per tower (max 2 damages per unit).

So 5k GT could actually negate the attack power of 100k archers (20 archers per tower with the max negation effect, as Human archers have 2 attack each).

I made adjustments, reran the battle:

There it is, the attackers archers were totally negated by the GT. Testing GT more, ran it with only 250 GT, which should knock out around 10k attack power from the attacker:

Next testing Medical Centers, maxed out ratio:

That doesn't seem right... Tweaked it to make sure the MC were only counting in the post-battle phase, it seems before they were counted as part of the battle phase - but not sure they were actually doing anything at that point, but they don't need to be there since they don't affect battles (just casualties after the fact). Updated attack stats on a maxed out MC defender look a LOT better with obviously fewer casualties:

trupheus that's true, the first few days of the test round it was really difficult sparing any buildings for GT. I think I managed to go for 0.25:1 ratio? Hard to dedicate too much when it means pulling out of TCs or mills or mines or farms. I guess a tank could run high GT, but they'd need to be well fed by their province mates.

The opportunity cost of MCs and GTs is just too high imo.

2:1 MCs gives a 20% resurrection rate. But wouldn’t I be better off with more TC or ATC or Forge to just train those troops faster? Unless I’m playing farming simulator my thought is no. If I’m farming sure, I’ll run MCs until I get broke then crush the MCs to be able to train everything back while in protection.

GTs reduce damage. But for that to happen, is that just giving up the GH space to be able to defeat the attack?

trupheus that's what my thinking always was. Although GT also decrease crime too, so there's some extra potential to carrying some % of those for economy.

Next radical idea:

What if GT could also house the troops of allied armies? They are guard towers after all, mmya? lol

New option in the send aid interface. Province only and shows current available GT housing of yer buttbuddies. Troops are turned away to march back home if space is no longer sufficient. Sender can recall troops at will and continues to pay for their upkeep while on loan. Loaned troops can only defend. 6 hour march times each way. No idea on qty for housing, that'd be the big balance question.

This would be quite the departure but would add quite the dynamic.

The BR's would get a little.... lengthy.

Jules lol, that's certainly an idea. It's a lot of complexity, could be a cool twist of a feature though. Someday. Lol

I like the idea of GT housing some troops tho, make them a little bit more attractive if they increase housing a bit. Can't make them OP vs GH tho, so maybe they just hold 10% as much as GH or something?
