After talking with many humans, and me being a gnome, it seems that something is off with BR against Dwarves. I'm going to break down my BR and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.
I was attacked by a dwarf who was 190660ks while I was at 266272. My GHs were full. I did not attack down, so there is no BF penalty, this should be straight army forces fighting one another.
We managed to kill : 2220 Shieldbearer 1606 Hammer wheilder 996 Axe Man 440 Runner 2371 Light Crossbowman 1079 Heavy Crossbowman
But we lost : 1106 Catapult 4791 Infantry 6099 Militia 1734 Rider 6136 Rock thrower 1559 Balista
In this attack the losses by resources are:
Me:
11.4 Million gold
487k Wood
73k Iron
Him:
6.4 Million gold
14.7k Wood
42k Iron
If we convert to gold using market rate:
Me: 11.4 + 48.7 + 14.6
74.7 Million gold
Him: 6.4 + 1.4 + 8.3
16.1 Million
That's 4.6 times as man losses by resource
Half of my fodder survived, Half of my infantry and Riders survived, and 2/3 of my war machines survived.
So now I'll breakdown the BR by Attack Defense and Range powers. This will use raw numbers without upgrades since we don't know what upgrades actually do, though upgrades should favour attack power and mean more deaths. It is also based off what he has provided for his returning numbers.
Using 80% of my army power because I was the defender, I had:
Attack: 55k
Defense: 174k
Range: 86.6k
His:
Attack: 57.8k
Defense: 236k
Range: 21.3k
The proportion of his SBs was equal to 31.4% meaning he cancels out 62.8% of LR
Range: 32.1K
We get x2 for Far Fighting
Range: 64.2K (me)
Range: 42.6k (him)
His SBs have now effectively cancelled out 109k range damage, then also provided 134k defense AFTER that
Next, his units should have 10% less attack power
Attack: 52.1K
Next his SBs should be taking 100% extra damage
My attack power x2 for the SB portion of damage. They should be taking the most amount of casualties
What he effectively killed since 20% of what was fighting was revived was:
Defense: 105k
He did this with 94.7k attack
What I effectively killed since 20% of what was fighting was revived was:
Defense: SBs 55k
Defense: Other 52k
I did this with 120k vs (175k vs SBs) attack
Final analysis:
The SBs are double dipping their defense by first removing LR attack, then by also providing full defensive points in each phase of combat. They are not taking the double damage nor are they taking the largest amount of losses. It also appears that units are not taking a reduction in attack power, though with the variance of units along with the unknown of how a basic mechanic (upgrades) works, this may not be the case.
Conclusion:
We need a battle tester to find out why Dwarf is taking such heavily reduced damages, and dealing excessively high damage. In my battle, it should have been a successful defend with a follow up attack to finish breaking me. Vs. humans, there have been many attacks and defends where 2/3 of their army is surviving and they still lose both on the attack, and on the defend.
Dwarf is broken and needs to be fixed
My proposed solution for the time being: Dwarf using Shield Line will have the SBs do the reduced LR damage by the percentage as stated for both sides, but the SBs defense also drops by the percent stated. They also need to take 100% extra damage as stated, and the rest of the army also needs to deal 10% less damage as stated.
