CLI, it’s a simple strategy: attack and sit in protection for 24 ticks, repeat the next day. About a week ago, a member popped the weekly stone that allows you to see who is in protection from the top 60. Only 16 were out of protection, and 8 of those kingdoms were in the top 10 at the time. The lack of players leads to a lack of targets, but even with more players, it wouldn’t have been much different. Searching for a target is extremely frustrating when everyone is in protection. Yes, there are people I’ve been naped with in range, but why break a nap just to attack and still get attacked by the enemy in the end?
In my personal opinion, CLI makes the game boring. The politics of the round have been fun, but the game itself has been lackluster. There has to be another way to keep the game interesting without just giving protection that completely benefits the attacker. I’ve seen Thane say that the defender gets so many buffs, but I just don’t see it. At this point in the round, where the KS isn’t as grouped together as before, a 100 ks kingdom hitting a 70 ks kingdom isn’t that significant. Upscaling that to a 300,000 ks kingdom hitting a 210,000 ks kingdom, it’s a huge difference. Being hit by a kingdom of that size is an automatic loss with practically zero percent chance to retail, and you can’t get help from your province or allies because that kingdom now has protection. Even with the bottom-feeding penalty at this stage in the game, it’s minuscule.
Maybe it’s as simple as adjusting what gives kingdom strength and how much. Scaling the bottom-feeding penalty differently on a more realistic level? All I want to do is catch someone on a failed attack so I can attack for pro with little army loss before I get hit by someone 100k more than me, but somehow still in their 70% with zero chance to defend or retail.
