Castle and land is already enough of a reward. You encourage the winner while you giving the defender less protection discourage them to play. The said buff etc that you mentioned. I don't think its well favored to the losing side.
In actual case here, you can only take your retal when you have enough troops left to do a quick retal or the attacker leave less troops in the base to protect.

What's up with that? It's part of a strategy and make then recover ang get back at the starting point. I don't think that is a big problem.

Compare to the defender who already lost and then lost more right after the prot is gone and then lost more and more again once the protection is gone before you can even think of taking your retal back.

If you are in that situation, do you rather play back again?
This are the experience that me and @DougEfresh also the other feels.

xiAo-Shin Star to be clear, we were not on top when CLI was introduced. We climbed our way there using the same rules that everyone else had. You talk like we had some sort of cheat code on our side. Would be interesting to see if @Lord Thane would be able to provide the top 30 KHOF list the day that the CLI techs were rolled out

You literally said it. You pretend like we didn't deal with the same getting bottom fed on stuff that you're currently complaining about. We adapted, the rest apparently didn't. That's where the strategy part comes in. There are ways to overcome it, you just have to figure that out.

Oh this again. Quick reminder for all that are of the opinion that CLI is not all rainbows and butterflies that you don’t get to call thane and skigglez love child ugly.

Do I like it? No. Will I deal with it? Yes.

It is exhausting to hear members of that alliance claim they did it purely with individual kingdom management. No. You didn’t. You’d still be recovering from EQs. It was an impressive display to constantly pass castles to stay in protection during rebuilds.

The biggest swings in power have more to do with mid round race changes, balance changes, and bug fixes. Dwarves were OP until they weren’t (bug fix). Orcs were weak until they weren’t (bug fix plus tech change). Sprinkle in some races changes and uh oh the landscape has shifted mid round.

And it’s the last paragraph that will drive away the second most players. The most being an oppressive vocal developer who calls anyone who doesn’t agree with his current opinion toxic.

trupheus was kingdom management 100% of it? No - but it played a role. We dealt with relentless bottom feeding by T4 mid round. They had no issue with it when they were the ones doing it, but now that the shoe is on the other foot all of a sudden it's a problem. We also had 2 members of our squad get EQ'd into oblivion when it was overpowered, and still recovered from it. Nobody else had to deal with that garbage.

Nobody forced anyone to change races - that was their choice entirely so they have to live with the results. Orcs only appeared weak because R8 kept attacking the 2 races that it's weak against - Elf and Gnome. You can't judge the strength of a race based on Shin and Haybol's opinion, they really have zero clue what they are doing. The fodder bug was changed prior to CLI being implemented as well.

And I didn't say that CLI was all rainbow and butterflies - I think there are tweaks that can be made for sure. Increasing protection times for defenders seems like a no brainer at this point (20 hours across the board?), and maybe doing some province wide retal rights could be interesting. But the general concept of CLI is superior to the old pre/re stuff, in my opinion.

Edit: Agreed with Trupheus. CLI is trash, garbage gameplay. I don't even agree with the notion the pre/re is the problem.

We are all under the same rules. When CLI was implemented, the 13s/3s weren't on top. Two of our guys got EQ bombed to near death (as far as I know, the only two to get truphs gift), and yet, playing under the exact same set of rules as everyone else (minus a beast TS only multi/account) we managed to snag the top.

And before you say it's because undead suck, skigglez has proven that wrong. And I'm not asking this question of T4/K4 because they probably got shafted the hardest with the race changes. I'm asking R8/S8. Is it because of our massive alliance of 10 people?

Lord Thane Maybe run 2 rounds simultaneously, one with and one without CLI? Sure would add perspective to what it adds to the game vs what it takes away. 🤷🏼‍♂️

AdinTheDark Fair enough - complain was the wrong word, I apologize. There were only 2 50% hits, and those were caragous boredom tests. Those aren't indicative of what happened the majority of the round. You hit us at 70%, we hit you at 70%, both sides have experienced being on top and bottom. @xiAo-Shin Star and @King Haybol make it seem like we were playing with some sort of built in advantage due to CLI, which is just ridiculous.

I’m glad you recognize it as a gift. It’s poetic that the 2 people to take 5+ free castles off me ended up where they are right now. Skigglez probably took at least 5 castles off me total. With the luck he was having I was positive he was going to get a castle in his final retal when I had 2. And I think Ice got one with SC2 GM level APM? Sweglord with a 5 piece.
