Thank you @TheKeeper and @Lord Thane for the countless hours you both have spent to bring this treasured game back to us. Despite all the negative comments and criticism, please know that you are appreciated. I know quite a few players that really enjoyed the round, including the changes made to the game. My provmate and I both had The best time playing this round. It was full of laughter and action. Can’t wait to see what is coming next! Btw, any updates on the chat system? 😁

I'm glad so many people got to experience the fun and adventure of Thardferr again. I feel sorry for the ones that had a bad experience and really hope they come back to try again some day, but like Mordecai says you can't save them all.

I'm excited for the next round, hopefully we'll have an even bigger group to play with. I know a lot of people that joined up mid/late in the round will be happy to get a fresh start with everyone on a level field. Interested to see how some new rules, new features and race tweaks get handled as well.

I'm not quite sure about chat, I have a bit more to do with the Admin Support system, and then I was going to look at updating the Old News system. The Admin Support backend turned out realllly nice, convos are split into threads, very easy to use - maybe could port some of it over to the players message section.

Live chat might be something that rolls out in chunks, first just a plain global chat, then add province chat, then player-to-player private, etc.

It is hard to express how enjoyable it is to get to play this again after it being down for so long. It is just as addictive as I remember it being. I love the competitive community and the game design theory crafting aspect of the forums. I have to skip a round, but I am coming back for rank 1 one day.

Lord Thane I know a lot of people complained about changing stuff mid-round, but I see no reason why you can't release major updates throughout the round. A ton of competitive games make big updates all throughout their ranked seasons. PvP gameplay is unique because players find ways to break things and exploit design choices. If something is killing the gameplay, it is much better to change it than ride it out all season.

Cora It was a lot of fun playing with you this round, thank you for all the help. Hopefully we can play together next year.

FriendsInSpace I haven't had time to fully run the numbers on this, figure balance, run sims... Idk if it's something we could implement safely in such a short amount of time, might be something that happens in like round 3... Unless we do that thing everyone says we always do and dump it on everyone mid-round, teehee 🥹

Lord Thane Fair enough. My thoughts were just having a smaller multiplier at the start of implementation, then tweak up as needed so it doesn't get completely overshot.

But yeah balancing it properly is key. Would suck for Caragous to end up giving 20 ks per unit lol.

Through the ups and the downs, rebuilding from nothing twice, the surprises, the mother fucker moments, having more gold than Pablo Escobar, remembering how to attack again, spending 100m gold a day for 4 days to slay as many orcs as I could, and of course more thardferr drama than a telenovela - yes, I was entertained.

Liiiiike which ones where you’re locked into a selection for 3 months and you can go from weak to strong on a whim? Clash Royale might have tweaks mid round but you have time to adjust. Siege? Pick a different operator. Thardferr isn’t as forgiving.

Dwarf got nuked pretty hard between tech changes and bug fixes. Orcs and humans got some buffs from those tech changes. Entire provinces changed race. Which for a game like thardferr is too much.

I get what you're saying, but to me, every game, even a fast-paced one like an FPS, offers unique playstyles with each gun, champion, or race. I've played a lot of competitive online games, and I've personally had my favorite playstyles "Thanos'd" out of existence mid-round countless times. Even small balance changes, as you mentioned, can completely kill a beloved playstyle.

I agree that it's a terrible feeling, and I also agree that some competitive games thrive on stability. The competitive community for Super Smash Bros. Melee, for instance, is largely drawn to the fact that the game never changes. I also loved that about the original StarCraft; they found an amazing balance and stopped updating it. If Thardferr could ever reach that level of balance, it would be incredible. I believe a competitive game should be very stable to provide the best environment possible. I just think Thardferr has a lot of work to get to a good competitive state, and it would benefit a lot from releasing updates mid-round until it can find that balance.

Honestly cant express enough what it was like to play a game I loved in my teens again in my 30s. Keep up the good work. Honestly mid-round changes reflect the need to adapt to every day curveballs in life, so bring it!
