I appreciate the efforts to bring back the game. However, I will just say, the battles are way worse than I remembered. I trained troops for over a week, and I just got attacked. Lost every single troop in 1 hit. Work for a week, lost 1/2 of your land, castles, every single unit. Makes me not even want to play anymore. Absolutely brutal. I get losing some units, but every single unit?

The admin team is working on this now.
They gave us all insane amount of resources to test the game out with and are actively making great progress, I dont think they got the original code so everything is being redone.
This is just a test round.

Yeah that's what I've been saying, getting zeroed out is extremely disheartening. You pretty much have to keep your army out all the time, and make sure you're only ever hitting someone with overwhelming force

I tried adding phased caps that limited damage at long range to .15, limited mid range to .25, limited melee to .40, and that helped ease the destruction on both sides considerably. The caps were phased to prevent a scenario where people might go full long range and just turtle up, and also add realism. I also thought if people lose fewer troops in battle overall, it would encourage more battle, which is fun.

But my idea was not agreeable by most so that change was rolled back. I guess getting zeroed out is closer to how the game used to be - though I don't remember it being that way. Maybe it's how things evolved in the later rounds that I didn't play in or something, idk.

      Lord Thane

Idea I had, what if at any time you only defend with half your army and thus can only lose half. This would be huge for defending retals too. Make it really hard to have 0 unit defenses. Pre is still valuable but not as valuable.

Back in the day castles divided your army.

trupheus yeah I thought we still have a castle division in there somewhere, but haven't actively looked for it to see what it's doing. I'll look at that tomorrow.

I have to ask if the parameters between the races in battle are correct? yesterday, an elf, gnome, & orc all attacked a human in the same day (hour) and all 3 lost. I know things can be a bit off lately with the resource dumping and someone could have heavy military, etc... but we all 3 just felt something felt off about how the human defended so easily all 3 of us. Could just be me overthinking, but if we all thought it, maybe should ask if the parameters are set correctly between races.

jarockxu do you happen to have the info from a truesight before the attack and stats for armies sent in the attack? We can manually calc attack/defense in basic unit terms, to see if it makes sense before considering modifiers. When I have time I meant to do some more basic attack tests, I'm currently still testing magic.

jarockxu if youre talking about the hit I think you are. It's definitely cuz you guys didn't send enough

Lord Thane I didn't have any true sight, but it's probably what DougEfresh said below. Probably didn't send enough.

Every time I have got hit, I lost every single troop. Hell, you start the game with more troops than I have now. I have been back to zero multiple times. The battle model needs fixed. I lost 40-50 days of troop training and get what maybe 10 hours of protection? what good is that puny amount of protection when you start over at zero every time someone 2x your size kills every troop you own?

I appreciate trying to revive the game, but dang, the battles need fixed. 100% troop loss every time you get hit is demoralizing. other than the technologies I have researched, I would like to delete my account and restart. I would be stronger than I am now...

Sorry if that sounded grumpy. Just restarting at day 1 of protection over and over...I am losing the desire to play the game at all. I have fond memories of Thardferr like 20 years ago. But based on this test round, I am struggling to recall what I liked about it. It seems like just bottom feeding central. 2x your KS hit you over and over. and if you can't keep your troops out, you lose 100%. I know it is being tested, but it seems like the goal has become keep your army out 100% of the time or you will be back to zero and never get any traction. Just not enjoyable at the current state unless you are on the top of the leaderboard and noone attacks you.

bierlym Have you adjusted your buildings and made
              ATC's
              Forges
              Guard Houses
              Houses
              and training centres?

If not, do that now, you have more resources then you need to grow to 50k you do not need anything else with the free Resources from Keeper.

Also always have a castle on build, try to hit around its completion so if you do get hit back you dont lose as much and recover.

bierlym Do you mind sharing ks attackers Vs yours? I'll check it, when attacking weaker kindoms, attackers get a penalty.

PS. Guard towers and med centers works pretty well, do you have some?
PS2. I'm working on a feature to prevent being zeroed

I looked back, but cannot see the KS from 3 days ago. As I recall, the guy who hit me was 2x my ks. Sorry I can't provide more detail for that battle.

Most recent battle. Sent 1280 troops and 11 survived. surviving troops 2 infantry. 2 pike. 3 Heavy Inf. 4 Archers. lost everything from my last 20 hours of training troops. my KS 23k theirs was 20k (close to same size). I was on Quick Retreat (QR), and still lost everything. What is the point of Strategy? when you still lose 100% of your troops on QR? and the overall problem of starting over daily with zero troops?

We managed to kill : 51 Mage 335 Swordman 194 Lanceman 72 Caragous 8 Archer 51 Elite Archer

But we lost : 40 Knight 298 Infantry 298 Pikeman 17 Heavy Infantry 596 Archer 20 Mounted Archers

Still say battles need fixed. or players will have no interest in sticking around...
