Xliest SW’s base stats are not very good so if you get caught you lose everything and they are not all that easy to train at 6:1im only training 45 and I have 3ATC per acre

Lord Thane This may be the stats. but this still sucks... Losing thousands of troops and only killing what like 200. I still say the battles are not well balanced. and with results like that...who gonna stick around and keep playing?

unless you running huge TC/ATC ratios, all ranged is very difficult. and when you lose 100% of your troops, retraining thousands of Ranged takes days, maybe weeks depending on your size. Starting over with zero troops after every defeat is just bad for the game (in my opinion).

If you are way over powered, you should be able to run and save your troops. How about a strategy that would allow that?

The game is in test. I am simply posting feedback in hopes that some things will get adjusted before the game were to go live. I have 100 TC on 58 land. 600 archers at 30 archers an hour is 20 hours of training. Train for a day and gone in seconds.

Sure, a player could delete all other buildings and go all TC and Forges. But I want to use the test round to figure out building ratios and stuff for real rounds where resources are normal. and test the gameplay closer to real conditions.

Blahblah once you get hit, you cannot retrain your a.T c army as an ork, fast enough to defend yourself against what is out there. Once you do get everything, trained it all just gets wiped immediately.

It's already/always-been 3 phases in the battle. Long range, mid range, melee.

Idk how running the battle phases twice in a row would change anything, what that would accomplish, or how that is logical in a battle.

What im seeing every time someone says the battle was unfair is that the attacker isn't sending a reasonable army. It's always the attacker sending something like 10k attack with 5k defence against someone with 20k attack and 10k defence, meaning the attacker is screwed right from the start with a smaller army. Then the next common issue is unbalanced attacks = people sending armies with huge melee and zero ranged units against defenders with huge ranged attack - the melee units get wiped before ever making it to the melee phase.

Without majorly changing the core mechanics of the game, current issues all seem to be revolving around players using bad strategy.

Beyond nerfing ranged units idk what can be done for bad strategy. This is one of the reasons why I tried instituting casualty caps, so even inexperienced players wouldn't get zeroed out making poorly planned attacks. I think my idea for a battle calc will also be very helpful.

Lord Thane nerf ranged. You said it your self… there is a reason in the old game it was 50% ranged damage. It’s exactly that. But if you think about it logically archers would not hit 100% of the time. They are shooting arrows into the abyss and praying it lands on anything that’s not the ground.

Lord Thane can you clarify the "bad strategy" comments?

There are many variables that may not be related to strategy::

Unless you truesight before every attack, you have no idea how many troops the other party has (or are at home)
You cannot monitor your account 24/7. People have work and sleep. Due to real life, check in to Thardferr frequency can be limited for many players.
You never know who or when you will get hit, so it is hard to have a strategy for all scenarios.
While all races have ranged units, certain races have a distinct advantage on ranged (number of distinct range units, ease of training (such as Gnome RT))
For races that only have ranged ATC units, their retaining is roughly half per unit training speed as it takes 2x as many ATC per 1 TC unit. I acknowledge that TC units train faster than ATC unless you are running huge ATC building count.
If you sustain heavy losses on defense, it is very rare to retrain all those troops in a 15 hour protection for instance. I mean in test round you could run TC 4:1 or something and maybe do it. But in a real round when you need mills and mines and houses and markets for your economy, this is not sustainable.
Any troops trained while not in protection are sheep to the slaughter. but you need to train about all the time to try and get enough troops trained to be able to make any successful attacks.

No matter what strategy any player employs, the player 2x their size still crush them. 1/2 their army is my full army if running similar guard house to land ratios. this is assuming you have all your troops home.

The "workaround" many use is to keep your army out 100% of the time. Sometimes you can trying hitting numerous targets but they are all in protection. Then you try another target and lose all your troops cuz their full army was home. My point is you can use solid strategies and still get crushed regularly. due to the factors mentioned above, this often has little to do with strategy (good or bad).

Blahblah at this point in the game it should be 10000slingers and as many axe throwers as you can train. With SW’s and slothers for damage mitigation.

Xliest I say slothers because they are quick to build and don’t use the same weapon types as the others you are training

Xliest yeah, that's what I was thinking. Once my shadows and axes were done training, I was going to wake up this afternoon and switch from the a t c down to t c and train a s*** ton of slingers, didn't think of the slothers, though. However, dart did not give me this option.lol

bierlym i don't think it's really so much strategy right now. Considering each time i've been zeroed, i've only had one third, the amount of troops as the people who've hit me or that I have hit. I did not have units to do ranged damage in the long ranged phase, and thus I was pretty much wiped out from the start because there was no 12 soak up damage to keep my shadow warriors and my axe throwers from getting their a**** kicked. I think once we start like a normal type of test round, we'll find things a bit more balanced.

Blahblah you might need a time out, in the game we have only been able to attack for 1or two weeks. the original code is gone so they are starting from scratch and there’s are still bugs and will continue to be as we progress the testing.
