Jets more techs for commerce is a good idea. Yeah I've seen a lot of ideas that are potentially good, but would work better as a tech.

I guess tech didn't get tested thoroughly last test round, so I'm hoping to spend time on it this round at some point - just verify they all work. If there's time after that, maybe add some new ones 🙂

    trupheus I like that idea. It would be easy to implement a simple version that increased chances of crime going up depending on level. We could even have a level of no taxation that improved odds of crime going down.

      Lord Thane I’m not the hugest fan of choosing taxation lvls I feel like utopia did that and it works in that game but might be a bit to much for the average thardferrian.

      If we are choosing tax lvls can we also choose how much to pay and feed our army, etc like it kinda opens the floodgates

        I just had my 17k gold drop to 14k per tick, no changes I actually increased my market/land ratio over the last tick, built 2 markets…

        Xliest that actually sounds like a fun idea, well fed and well paid gets buffs, low pay and low food gets nerf and higher casualty!

          Lord Thane my comment was alittle tongue in cheek as this in utopias model but it could have impactful implications here as well…

          I don't like the lose of gold if markets fall below 1 to 1. Your markets are still making the gold you have coming in. Finding more land shouldn't change that. It should only increase if you build more markets and houses. But I'm just a retard so there's that.

            Blahblah it won't be so bad when you win land in an attack, cuz the peons you get will generate income and you'll prolly get some markets on the land.

            I agree with the general sentiment that markets are too robotic at the moment, but haven't seen a compelling alternative formula yet. I implemented a few things to improve the situation this week = make peasants produce gold on their own, and some races will get a bonus when living in their ancestral homelands. We're just a few more good ideas away from loosening the reliance on markets, I think.

              Lord Thane is the old formula not compelling enough? I’m failing to see the overall direction here, it seems like we keep going back to the same point. Which is, “the game is like this now, it was like something different before, but we are having issues with this thing we have now” so why not revert? Markets can still be impactful if we want them to be, you make pop base lower and the multiplyer higher like this

              Pop * x * markets / land * y + some castle bonus and a constant if we want.

              You could implement and make changes on the fly, maybe there’s a bilinnial distribution for markets per land, maybe “pop” is not just a number of your population but a function of population, homes, markets and land. Maybe.

                Xliest yeah you're right, maybe markets are fine and it's just these short-timed techs making things look skewed. If it weren't for the techs then the general KSs would be a lot lower and it would be a lot easier to find targets. The techs timing has just made this test round weird - but they do need to get tested anyways, so I guess it's doing its job lol

                Instead of Market / Land ratio i suggest income per Market. That way it won't be forcing us to keep 1:1 markets as dropping that becomes a drastic change in income.

                Population Tax = Population x 1g
                Market Tax = Market Amount x 100g
                Castle Bonus = 1+(0.02 * Castle Amount)

                Gold Income = Population Tax + (Market Tax * Castle Bonus)

                @Leo thats just gold per peasant as you’ve introduced it… the 2gold per market is literally not doing anything, it would need to be popgold x your marketcastle thing. But that would give us even more gold. Imo we need less early game rather than More. But only slightly and maybe have it ramp up to slightly more in late game. Although I don’t think gold was limiting in the og late game so maybe it’s just less across the board.

                  2 gold per market? It is 100 gold per market without castle bonus.
