FriendsInSpace my idea of military techs scaling the KS values of units instead of giving a flat 1000ks, which is a huge step in the right direction imo.
Again, really like this as I think there's major balancing issues. Elf being in the weakest place is partially because their units give a lot of KS yet don't scale well with upgrades, cost a lot, and don't train fast. So they're low quality, weak, and expensive. Mages don't receive any upgrades, EA and Archer only benefit from Range. Caragous seems to be universally accepted as needing a rework, swordman and lanceman scale the best with techs yet aren't supposed to be the focal point of an Elven military.
Mage 7.7ks
Caragous 9ks
Elite Archer 3.9ks
Swordsman 2.1 ks
Lanceman 2.1ks
Archer 2.4ks
Slother 2.1
Slinger 1.8
Axe Thrower 3.3
WM 3.8
Never got SW, but he guessed around 4 or 5.
A quick comparison of Slinger and Archer, as they're both the basic TC Range option. Slingers are the more efficient unit because every piece of iron, wood, and gold you spend on them produces more ranged attack power and more kingdom strength per resource compared to Archers. Slingers squeeze more out of your economy.
For example, with equal Training Centers, Archers put more damage on the field per tick, but each tick of Slingers costs far less. When you measure efficiency as “damage or KS per gold spent,” Slingers win by a wide margin — they provide about 30% more ranged attack per gold and nearly 50% more KS per gold than Archers.
If 100 Slingers and 100 Archers wipe each other twice, the Elves end up paying about 318k gold-equivalent to rebuild while the Orcs only spend 173k. That’s a 145k gap for the same outcome. Over multiple fights, the Orcs are bleeding way less to trade evenly and that efficiency snowballs hard in their favor.
In this scenario the Orc isn’t even punching down, they’re hitting up.
