LadyKaeleer step 1, get a Truesight on them to see what their army looks like. Step 2, send 100% of your army at them to get your castle back. Step 3, use your 24 hours of protection to rebuild.

Sorry, but saying the only way you can win is by having a pretal run for you isn't a valid argument since most players don't want pre-re. So there must be another way to win, or else nobody would be winning. The protection you get from your retal should be a big help.

Jaxx if that was sarcasm, I apologize for being snippy. I had my entire three days of work wiped out 49 seconds OOP and I am really fucking salty about it.
If it wasn't sarcasm, eat shit and die slowly. How's that for hysteria?

    Lord Thane

You clearly can’t read or think if you don’t think there is any logic in my post but if you insist maybe we should just 1v1? See how it works for you since that’s your big sell on this abomination is 1v1 play. I’m The Smell of Rotting Corpses, build a castle I’m sure you’re in my range. Let me hit you or I’ll hit first whichever, if you come back and gain a castle then I’ll shut up. If I keep you pinned maybe you listen a little before you become “emotional”

    Bet?

I believe there’s a compelling argument that the protection disparity between attackers and defenders is unbalanced. Providing the attacker with less protection negates the purpose of the CLI, which aims to prevent pre/retail and castle passing. Therefore, the balancing needs to favor the defender. The defender receiving the same protection as the attacker after 24 hours seems to effectively address this issue.

Another argument I’ve encountered revolves around the growth advantage the attacker gains during protection, which increases their chances of defending because the defender can’t catch up before the attacker’s army returns for retaliation. However, there are several challenges in balancing this to ensure the defender has a chance. Giving the defender protection after retail while simultaneously providing another retail to the attacker would slow down the game’s progression and reduce it to a one-on-one battle. I genuinely enjoy participating in wars as a province. The pre/retail didn’t feel toxic to me; it was always the dreaded “just part of the game,” but it certainly made attacking extremely dangerous and safer for farming. Therefore, to address the concerns raised about the CLI, I propose a boon for the defender that enhances their training abilities, enabling them to muster their army to defend their retail in a safer manner, allowing them to still engage in attacks.

** Enraged by this brazen attack on your kingdom, you have issued commands to your Generals to bolster your reserves so that we may punish this villainous kingdom that has dared to take our lands! **

While coordination with your province to strike when your target emerges from protection can still occur as it should, we must maintain the “let’s go to war!” feeling. However, we should also provide the defender with a small boon to assist them in this effort. Another idea would be to allow a form of reinforcements from your province mates, but only while you’re under protection, and only a percentage from a single province mate to prevent abuse.

I’ve spent the entire day contemplating this issue, and I have a few additional thoughts, but I believe these are the most promising ideas I’ve come up with.

Reading these forums sometimes feels like a travesty, both for the players and the developers. This is a great game we loved playing in our youth, where we made friends and enemies. We are passionate about this game to the point where we revert to childish bickering behavior, and both sides are at fault for this. We come at the developers hard because we love this game, but they do have a lot on their plate and are revamping the game with as much passion as we are playing it.

Developers, thank you for what you’ve done so far, and I hope you continue to improve the game. We really do need better forums than this jumbled mess of randomness. I understand that you get frustrated with players hearing the same things over and over, but you have a responsibility here to set the tone for your player base. If we are hounding on something and disagree with your ideas or implants, you need to see it for what it is: a passionate player who wants to enjoy this game, your game. You should be happy they are willing to give you this feedback, even if it is tedious and you’ve heard it a hundred times. Maybe we should bring the idea of a CLI to the table and see how we can improve and balance it to a more sustainable future for the game.

Hope you enjoyed my wall of text.

LadyKaeleer they always have been, it's not easy to keep a decent army and big magic reserve at the same time - as it would be for any race trying to do that. There's been many discussions in the test rounds about buffing Elven military units specifically because of this.

Just think, a lot of players wanted to reduce all long range attacks by -50%. How bad off would the elves be if we had done that? 😵‍💫

AdinTheDark thank you, love the ideas about giving an attacked kingdom some buffs too. I just implemented CLI for retals to give the defender more confidence in retaliating - so hopefully that helps. I think some buffs to an attacked kingdom should be something we implement as well, even something modest like +10% training speed and production.

Lord Thane one of the biggest problems with the forums is the limited number of players who are active here. I'm only here because after 20+ years of loving this game, I find myself not loving it this round (hell, nearly hating it honestly), and it's time to figure out why.

Ya heaven forbid someone point out the absurdity of your comments. You guys are something else haha

skigglez build a castle see how long it lasts. Don’t worry you’ll have a few hours of pro to try to raw dog a bigger kd. Your castles there just go get it.

That’s been the same shit every round man, at least now if i hit for a castle i don’t lose 2 guaranteed because i don’t have 30 friends playing the game. You might enjoy that, but i don’t. And if the idea is to grow the game and get new players, the pre-re play style has to go. Nobody new will stick around, but maybe that’s what you pathetic losers want.

LadyKaeleer I think the CLI poll had a better turnout than a presidential election, that's pretty good lol

The small player base is part of the problem too. There's less opportunity for players to form new friendships or for alliances to even exist. A new player will make their first attack, then get pre-re'd and never login again. I like to think things like CLI will be good for growing the player base as it makes the warfare less stressful when you're not already part of a group.

We already lost a lot of players from the test rounds who were fed up with the battle mechanics as they were. If we didn't change something, I doubt Thardferr would last until a 2nd round.

We'll keep adjusting things, eventually get a good balance where things are fun. Not the romanticized version of Thardferr from our youth, but some new kind of fun. That's the hope anyways.

skigglez when you can speak to us without resorting to name-calling, you can have a seat with the adults. Now, it's past your bedtime. Run along.
