And is it possible to use enough wizard to overcome said resistance. So amount of wizards needed to cast offensively against a human would need to be less than against a dwarf?

trupheus yes it is much easier to reach casting success against a human than a dwarf, just because you need less wizards to reach the threshold.

For potencies it takes into account your school/wiz and the defenders school/wiz, a random roll for damage multiplier, and number of peasants the target has with a limit to how many can die in one go. The casting success chance is also used in the calc for potency as well.

For Wine who got hit with 16k fireball, it was probably an incredibly lucky roll (this is a 300 sided dice, lol), and the elf was probably stacked on all the other modifiers (like casting on someone smaller).

Soooo an elf with 4:1 schools casting FB with 4000 wiz against a dwarf with no schools and about 40 less land, to be expected to kill 23k.

Also, that was cast inside my retal and it gave him a retal. 🙁

Like I said, was to be determined if the fireball was worth giving up a retal. Now if only we had TS give retals too things would be much more interesting for the low KS pocket casters

It’s my pipe dream haha. There’s a few low KS kingdoms (1/3 the KS) that run all wizards that are casting multiple TS on our group and we have no recourse against it. Even on our elves who are running wizards they basically never fail. Seems like an issue to me because they are able to TS us while in protection too - a massive advantage for that group in my opinion. Especially when one of the kingdoms doing it is Haybol’s multi (proven in another thread), he never does an attack without it.

I dont agree a TS should give retal. Most that stay small are effective early game by staying low and casting. Especially with this Castle% hits.... If I was elf this round I would purposely stay with 2-3 castles due to this terrible rule and the ability to be selling Pots in the market to stockpile resources.

However I do agree Haybol has a multi/friend who is playing only to help him in E7

If you keep failing TS on your elf, do something different. Your schools per land are too low for the amount of wiz you’re using. Use more wiz, get more schools, or both. You failed a TS on 2 elves in the same tick. Learn. Get better.

TS shouldn’t give a retal.

That offensive damaging spells give a retal when they can’t take a castle doesn’t make sense to me. They can’t target military. They can’t take a castle. They can’t take land. Yet they give a retal that can cost a castle? Especially considering what’s necessary for them to be a real threat. If the caster can’t take a castle with a spell why do they have one at risk?

Alas, we’re off topic in this thread. Wizards should provide some kind of defense only attack power. It’s not going to stop anyone it’s just going to give them a little sting when someone decides to hit a caster.

It is a huge advantage to have that many TS because the account is set up purely to do so, whereas real accounts have to use their wizards for other things. Haybol might think it isn’t an advantage to have constant information about multiple kingdoms, but it really is, especially since the racial resistances for dwarf and gnome essentially do nothing. If it wasn’t an advantage they wouldn’t have multi kingdoms set up to do exactly what they’re doing.

skigglez the racial resistances are working. I failed casting on a dwarf using the same ratio that I use for a gnome. That extra 5% resistance made a difference in my calculations. I should have accounted for that, but I didn’t. So the cast failed. I understand the frustration of having multiple TS casted on you, but it doesn’t mean that it should have a retal for it.

Offensive spells like fireball and earthquake should absolutely grant a retal. That fireball you cast on me wiped out 3/4 of my population, that is extremely powerful and can cripple a kingdom. You can also cast them on people in protection. Casters shouldn’t get to hold that kind of power over the races that aren’t able to run wizards.

Haha yeah dwarf should run 2:1 schools to stop multis that are full wizards from casting an endless stream of spells on them. Makes a bunch of sense. Use that same logic for your complaint about fireball granting retals. Build an army to defend yourself against the kingdoms you give retals to

skigglez I still think Dwarf and Gnome should be able to use MPs to cast Shield and basically it soaks up 1 wizards worth of spell casting.

How many MPs should it cost for 1 Shield point? I'm not sure, but somewhere between 1 and 4 I'd figure
The only thing is you lose Shield points you've collected every time a spell is cast on you

skigglez you can actually increase your chances of beating a caster pretty easily with a small commitment. Casters aren't used to people defending themselves, so they assume certain races have base stats which are easy for them to figure out over time.

Just adding 0.25:1 schools and 5:1 wizards would give you a pretty strong barrier separating you from targets a caster is used to. The additional benefit is if they do penetrate your defense, your schools/wiz would factor in to how damaging the incoming spell was (fewer peasants killed from fireball).

The investment in that defense really just depends on what kind of enemies you're facing. It sounds like you deal with a lot of adversaries with access to magic, so a modest defense boost I think would be good for you. Try it out.
